Perhaps the most important part
for compression on a bmx bike (where the handlebars and fork are connected and
held securely together), is the bmx stem. You can find stems in different reach
and upsweep. These measurements can affect the stability and response of
the front end of your bike.
The reach of a bmx stem is the
distance from the center of the fork tube to the center of the handlebar clamp.
The most common is 50mm. Longer gives more stability while shorter gives better
response. Neck upsweep is the height at which the handlebar is held above the
center of the stem main body. The dimensions we find are between 8 - 36mm.
Which dimension you choose has to do with how comfortably is your stance on
your bmx bike. Finally you can choose between top load and front load
stems. Usually front load stems are preferred by taller riders because the
bars have a longer reach from the center and top load stems are chosen for those
who want to add some more height to their bars. One important
thing to remember when choosing a bmx stem is to check that the diameter is
compatible with your handlebar's diameter (22.2mm standard or 25.4mm oversized).
At RideOnShop™ you will find bmx
stems from the best bmx brands.
